We are nearly a month into 2019 and here I am just publishing my blog goals for the year. I’ve really haven’t been well for the last 6 weeks and I’ve had so many medical appointments it’s been unreal. This is a calm week and I have three! As a result, work has taken a back seat and what I had planned on doing during the first quarter of this year has needed to be rejigged. Some things have been put back a few months and I’m hoping I have managed to get together a workable plan for the next 2 months.
Just like last year, I am setting a few goals for my blog work this year. I am really happy with the improvements made in 2017 and was very surprised that in 2018 I more than doubled my page views from those of the year before. To be able to do that again would be wonderful but feel it entail far more work than did was last year. I am confident that with good planning I can achieve what I want to and work towards a goal I have set for the next few years.
2019 Goals
This is what I would like to achieve in 2019:
Views And Social Media
I’d like to increase my page views and social media followers by 25%. I think it is getting more difficult to increase followers on Facebook and Instagram especially now the algorithms have all changed. It’s as if you won’t get your page/feed shown unless you pay for the page to be promoted. But I am not going to let this stop me, I am going to be
My Other Blogs
As well as this blog I also have a couple of others that took a huge back seat again in 2018. This year I am hoping to get them rebranded and get posting on them more often. It’s going to take some work but it’s something I know I need to do and plans have been made. I
Email Subscribers
This year I would love to double my email subscribers. I get a steady stream of sign-ups but I would like to increase them plus work on consistent subscriber-exclusive content which was what I had [planned for but with my health got pushed to the bottom of the never-ending to-do list.
Be More Organised And Schedule Posts In Advance
Too often I am leaving posts to the last minute; life just seems to get in the way. The minute I get ahead of something in my life, usually my health puts a spanner in the works. Health-wise things aren’t currently well and I know I need to scale back my plans as I constantly feel like I’m playing catch up. I’m guilty of far too often putting pressure on myself and when I don’t achieve what I planned I beat myself up about it.
From now on I am making realistic plans that mean if I am taken ill and can’t work I have back up posts. I think in order to keep on top of things especially if I am also re-branding my other blogs I need to be consistent and very organised. I have so many posts I have started to write and this year needs to be the time when I sit down and concentrate on getting these drafts finished. There are quite a few afternoon tea post reviews that just need finishing touches being made to them and it’ time I buckled down and got them finished.
Publish An E-book
I have the specific details all worked out on paper and I have made a very rough time schedule for when I am doing each part. I would love to have an hour each week to work on this project.
Quarterly Projects
I really want to expand my blog and write some more series about things I am passionate about. I have made plans to complete 4 projects this year and have started working on the first project which I am planning on launching in April. I want to spend at least 2 hours a week working on these projects.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Things have been simplified and workable plans are in place. My new planning system is really helping me get on top of things and I’m now at the end of my fourth month. The system is working well but my health and abundance of hospital appointments are hampering progress. What I am in the process of doing now is scaling back what I want to achieve and making my goals more
For the next two months I am going to;
- Continue to develop a strong brand ethic, think pretty matching colours and design.
- Stick to my new posting schedule.
- Be more present on social media.
- Schedule writing sessions where I focus only on writing (read coffee shop working lol, I need to get out from these same 4 walls on a regular basis and I’m always far more productive too)
- Send regular newsletters once a month (you can sign up here if you aren’t already)
- Post about some of the afternoon teas I haven’t written about yet
- Treat myself to an afternoon tea, for work purposes.
I really think the key is simplicity and fun but isn’t that what life should be about?
What are your goals for the next couple of months?
Erica Hughes says
I’m always interested to read other people’s goals, although a bit reluctant to set them. The other year I did announce to my son that whatever year it was, it was going to be the year of film. I think we ended up making 1 video and I’ve never heard the last of it. I would like to regularly post on my other blogs so I can make a bit of money from them too.
