Mental Health

Taking care of your mental health is something that isn’t a top priority for many, but with a greater focus shifting towards self care more attention is centring around the need to look after your mind. Mental health isn’t as easy to attend to as your physical health may be, as you cannot visually ‘see’ an issue. However it’s still of equal importance, as poor mental health can mean that you are unable to concentrate at work, lose essential social skills and even repeatedly fail to attend a shift. Following the advice detailed by Travis Perkins PLC regarding caring for your mental wellbeing at work will allow you to gain back some kind of control, relieving some pressure whilst helping you to focus on the task at hand. Calming exercises such as breathing techniques and meditation are often a key feature, but getting a regular good quality night’s sleep can be of real benefit too.

Physical Health

Your physical health involves all things body related, from weight and fitness levels right down to the strength of your immune system. Staying fighting fit will mean that you’re able to perform to your full potential whilst at work, smashing your goals with ease and not tiring yourself out in the process. A healthy diet is a key feature of a healthy body, so make sure that you’re eating nutritionally rich meals that consist of fresh fruit and veg, lean protein and complex carbohydrates. Try to avoid products like sugar and coffee, as though you may receive a short burst of energy this will not last, and mood swings and crashes often follow shortly after consumption. Exercise will provide you with a lot of extra energy, so be sure to include regular workouts to help keep your muscles strong and maintain a healthy weight.

Taking care of your mental and physical health to ensure that you can reach your full potential at work has never been so simple when you are able to make the most of the top tips and tricks detailed above. Focus on including calming practice such as meditation in your daily schedule, and change your diet to ensure that you eat nutritionally balanced meals that provide a slow and stable release of energy.
