Earlier this month I went back to Scotland and again spent some time in Edinburgh.  this time it was just a 2 night stay but on the first night I decided to return to The Balmoral Hotel on Princes Street where I had the most amazing afternoon tea in June.  I arrived about 20 minutes before my table was booked for and was escorted to the bar to wait.  I had a look at the cocktail menu and was struggling what to choose.  In the end I went for The Balmoral French Martini which was made with the house infused… View Post

I have a huge love of food.  Sometimes simply food like jam on toast and at other times I love food on the other end of the spectrum.  Whilst on my Scottish adventure I really wanted to see what Edinburgh had to offer and to try out some Scottish food.  As well as the Cannon Ball restaurant I also dined at Ondine and I also enjoyed two afternoon teas at Browns and The Balmoral Hotel.  Cannonball is situation by the entrance to Edinburgh Castle and is certain not to disappoint any foodie.  I went for a late lunch around 1.30 on… View Post

Whilst on my Scottish adventure a few weeks ago, being a huge seafood fan I decided to see what Edinburgh had to offer.  I type seafood restaurants in Edinburgh in to google and was provided with a list of lovely seafood restaurants.  Only thing was I wanted a restaurant open on a Monday lunch time, sadly Monday lunch time seems to be a common time not to open.  After much searching I came across Ondine and read a few reviews which were rather positive.  I booked a table for Monday online and found the restaurant quite easily as it is… View Post

After a very traumatic few weeks where I had been in to a coma and nearly died, developed a serious and rare dermatology illness and then spent 9 days in a cancer isolation ward and my immune system had failed, my hair coming out in clumps and required a central line, I needed a change of scenery.  A place to mentally get my head around what lay in front of me.  Something that would throw my life right in the air.  I really was in no fit state to travel anywhere,  I was fainting on a daily basis.  I knew… View Post

Whilst in Scotland on my little Scottish Adventure I continued my afternoon tea adventures at the gorgeous Balmoral Hotel on Princes Steet. The tea was served in the Palm Court which is a truly stunning room with giant palm trees and beautifully painted walls. The furniture was all big comfy sofas and chairs in the centre and around the outside the room was decorated in a more traditional dining setting. Really was a beautifully classic setting for afternoon tea. Upon arrival I was settled at my table and asked what type of tea I would like. I asked for English Breakfast… View Post

I’ve just returned from a lovely last minute trip to Edinburgh. I’ve never been to Scotland before and although I am nowhere near feeling 100% I decided to just grab the bull by the horns as they say and jump right in. I’m in need of catching up on some afternoon teas in order to complete my afternoon tea challenge and decided I’d jump right in to the Edinburgh Afternoon Tea scene and partake in a few cullinery delights that Scotland has to offer. I was lucky enough to have 2 afternoon teas and 2 cream teas. I also sampled… View Post
