Spreading The Christmas Cheer with Homesense
Today as part of my attempt to complete Blogmas; a post a day from 1 December until Christmas I thought I’d talk about spending time with friends and loved ones and enjoying the Christmas Cheer.
With life being so hectic, so full on, so now now now life can actually pass us by. Too often we spend time glued to devises and call it social interaction. But how social are we? Do we really get a real social interaction kick from talking to somebody online as opposed to actually sitting in the same room as them and actually conversing face to face. It’s often difficult to meet up with those we wish to spend time with be it because of busy schedules or the miles between us.
I feel as though I have been quite lucky over the past few years in that I’ve met some lovely people through blogging and some I have had the pleasure to meet and would like to consider as friends. Whilst I was living in Wales I didn’t go to too many blogger events as I was so far away from all that was happening however, since moving back to the Midlands I have had more chance to meet with fellow bloggers that I have had the opportunity to get to know online plus a few I’ve met at the odd event I’d gone to previously.
When the lovely people over at HIBs100 invited me to a Christmas event in Birmingham I jumped at the chance to have a festive blogger meet up. It was fabulous to just sit and spend time to chat. To just contemplate and relax in what could only be described as a couple of rooms that looked like they were straight from the set of a Harry Potter movie!
I’d like to thank the lovely people at Homesense for sponsoring this event and really loved some of the Christmas pieces they brought for us to look at. The pieces just co-ordinated so well with the decor. Homesense stores can be found nationwide and currently stock some lovely and very reasonably priced Christmas decorative pieces from rustic Christmas tress to ornate snow globes and cocktail shakes.
It really was great to catch up with some lovely people and spending an evening going back to the basics of face to face socialising in a relaxed atmosphere. Just what Christmas time should all be about. It really is something I feel I should do ore often. I don’t for one minute think I am alone in that I spend far too much time of social media. I constantly have my phone by my side and although I know I am not as bad as some people where being glued to an electronic device is concerned I know that the should put down my phone more often and take the chance to speak to someone, take the opportunity to say, hey lets meet for coffee instead on tap tap tapping away on a gadget.
Do you feel you spend too much time socialising via electronic gadgets instead of actually speaking to someone face to face. Is family time being overtaken by gadgets instead of face to face interaction in your home? Would you family benefit from a gadget free afternoon or evening spent talking and having fun?
Are you and your loved ones missing out on the Christmas cheer this year?
If you pop back next week when I will be talking about Christmas decorations you might just see a few things I picked up from Homesense when I visited my local store.
