Modern Touches To Add To Your Home

[AD] If you are looking for some fun ways to add light and colour to your home this spring, you don’t need to rip out the entire space and start again. A lot of the time we can get away with adding one or two special touches which complete the space and make it feel more modern. Here are some ways to add a touch of modern to your home this year.

Hang Art

If you feel as if your main living area is missing something this year, why not try and fill the blank wall space with a piece of art? This can either be a photograph of you and your family, a painting you love, or even something a bit more quirky like a movie poster. The simple act of having colour on the walls can make a big difference to your space overall.

Rainbow Books

If you have a bookshelf in your home which look a little more messy than you would have liked, you can make a statement by rearranging the books into a rainbow. This will not only make the bookshelf look tidier, but it will also give your room a splash of colour and make it look more modern than before. If you want to go one step further, you can even do this with your DVDs!

Let There Be Light

Light is a key part of any modern home, and you will want to do everything you can to bring light into your living space. The best way to make your home feel more modern instantly and allow more light in is to replace the curtains around your windows with grey wooden blinds. This will add a lovely sense of style to the area but it will also allow more light into your home. You can think about adding mirrors into a small room too so that they can reflect light into the room.

Go Clear

Sometimes, the items which make a modern home feel modern are actually completely clear. Transparent vases, candle holders, light fittings, coffee tables and more can make a big difference to your space immediately. The reason for this is that you will be able to see through the item to the space behind and this creates an extra sense of space in your home. If you have a small home in particular this can be a brilliant way to make it feel bigger.

Block Colours

If you currently have wallpaper in the room which is heavily patterned or raised, now is the time to say goodbye and welcome a more simple approach. If you want to make your space feel more modern, you will be better off painting your wall with one colour to allow for a blank canvas. This gives you more options when decorating the rest of the room because you won’t feel like you have to stick with a theme. If you want to make things a little more interesting, you can paint one wall a bright colour and then the rest can be a neutral shade.
