Ever wondered what goes into a table restoration – Hamilton Billiards explains

10th October 2019 by Candace Leave a Comment

[AD] At Hamilton Billiards, we have over 30 years’ experience in crafting and restoring snooker, billiards and pool tables, and as certified members of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, we are experts when it comes to the restoration process. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into table restoration, this is your lucky day – continue reading to know what we normally do to restore a table back to its former glory.

Step 1.

We start by removing the cushions, stripping back the old cloth and removing the existing polishes.

Step 2.

Once we’ve got a bare table, we’ll carry out any repairs that are required. For instance, we’ll glue the rubbers back to the wood, if necessary.

Step 3.

Next, we’ll sand the cushions and other wood parts, clean the slate, and then, re-cover the table and cushions with a high-quality cloth.

Step 4.

The ball runs will also have to be checked to ensure that the snooker balls can run freely. Plus, ensure that the pockets are in good condition as well.

Step 5.

Then, we can re-fit the cushions and start re-staining and re-polishing the table.

Step 6.

Finally, we’ll have to check that the table is ready for play by brushing and ironing the cloth, re-marking out and replacing the spots, tightening all the bolts and ensuring that the table is level.

Once all this work is done, you’ll have a brand-new looking table ready for you to practice all of your favourite shots. If you require our professionals to restore an old snooker table or pool table, don’t hesitate to visit our website at https://www.hamiltonbilliards.com and contact us for more information.
