Top Bathroom Trends In 2019

8th August 2019 by Candace Leave a Comment

[AD] The bathroom is an excellent place to relax at the end of a stressful day. Soaking your worries away in a warm bath and listening to some music, can be just what you need to get away from everything for half an hour.

Knowing how to update and upgrade your bathroom, however, can be challenging. For that reason, I spoke to the experts at Bespoke Interiors who produce some of the most beautiful bathrooms Newcastle can offer. With their help, we came up with a trends list for 2019 with some fantastic ideas which can help you transform your bathroom into an incredible space you’ll love being in each day.

Make The Most Of Small Spaces

Bathrooms are often not the biggest rooms in a house, so making the most of all available space is vital. That includes small areas such as shelves or window ledges. There are some great options for small spaces, but they lend themselves perfectly to housing small accessories such as candles or small plant pots.

In storage structures such as a sink unit, consider an open unit rather than a traditional cupboard style. While you may worry that an open unit will expose your bathroom to clutter which is on display, there are lots of great storage options which look stylish and can fit it with the overall theme of your bathroom. These little shelves in an open storage unit not only open up your bathroom to give the illusion of more space but can make great homes for accessories.

Statement Walls

The statement wall has been a popular design trend in other rooms of the house for many years now, but it’s time to bring it into the bathroom. As mentioned before, bathrooms are often not the most spacious rooms and can often be long and thin. A statement wall works perfectly at one end of a narrow bathroom to add a burst of colour to break up the traditional white and grey tones. This colour can come from simple paint, but it’s worth exploring the options available with designer tiles and wallpaper.

Add Some Artwork

Following on from statement walls, adding some beautiful artwork to your bathroom can really enhance the room. There is so much flexibility when it comes to art and placing it in the bathroom doesn’t restrict this too much. It’s vital to remember that the moisture in the room may well affect painting or prints, so keep this in mind when choosing a piece. An alternative to a painting or print is a beautiful vase or glass ornament. The most important thing to remember if you go down this road is placing it somewhere safe, as in a small room it could get knocked and damaged or worse. Regardless of the artwork you choose, adding a piece to your bathroom will provide you with an eye-catching focal point for the room.

Don’t Be Afraid Of The Industrial Look

Over the past 10-years, we have seen bathrooms become more and more minimalist, with features being hidden cleverly by the design of the room. In 2019 however, there looks to be a shift away from this. Continuing the industrial look which has become popular in interior design, not only in homes but across society, the bathroom is now benefiting from this style. Exposed plumbing and fixtures such as showerheads and taps with an industrial finish contrast beautifully with traditional marble tiles. A different option is to explore concrete as a material to utilise in the bathroom. Concrete can be used in a variety of ways in the bathroom, with everything from sink basins and countertops to walls and floors being made from concrete. A high polished finish gives a smooth yet rustic look which works brilliantly in modern homes and non-traditional spaces.
