Things I Love (February 2016)
It really doesn’t seem like a month since I put together last months post about things I love. I had so many plans for February and I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface of what I wanted to do.
One thing I have managed to achieve is setting up my new cooking and baking blog. I’ve lived blogging about food the past few years and 20 months ago I started working on a foodie blog. Just like my main patenting and lifestyle blog there became a little issue when I moved from living by the sea in January. I was no longer by the sea and the name didn’t fit.
All these years I’ve thought I had an unusual name and what made it even more unusual was the traditional Britidh spelling with an ‘A’. I decided to learn my lesson this time with s blog name, I’ve changed my main blog three times now in 6 years as I’ve outgrown the name and go with my name in the title. Let’s face it, I’m not changing my name! Who knew every variation of cooking/baking with Candace in was already taken. Perhaps not the .co.uk but the more preferred .com that the majority like to use. I personally prefer .co.uk as that shows where I am in the world and us Brits should be proud of this.
With much faffing, some more faffing and then a little bit more faffing I’ve set my new foodie blog Candace’s Kitchen. Now the fun starts.
Think it’s safe to say I love tea. Buckets of tea. Right now I’m loving this little tea pot and cup set for one. There is something about brewing tea in a pot that makes it taste that much better. Usually I just pop the tea bags in a mug and off I go. I don’t have time to warm the pot, let in brew and then deal with the extra washing up of using a tea pot but on occasions it’s just what is needed. Those extra minutes to sit back, relax and savour the taste. Sadly , my daughter is developing s tea pot habit and oh the mess!
I love this time of the year when spring is starting to show all its new life. I love bulbs popping up in the ground and I’m also a big fan of a little pot growing inside. Looking forward to these springing up and then being able to replant them in the garden for years to come.
Being a foodie I also have a thing about crockery. Just living this pretty little set I picked up this month. I’ve mainly purchased it for photography of my cooking and baking but it really has made me smile. There is also a cereal bowl to match and all four pieces cost less than £8. Brilliant price!
We really have had a very mild winter where I live. Up north have had some terrible flooding that has been so devastating but we have been extremely blessed. Apart from the last fortnight we have had very warm weather for this time of year. Unfortunately for me my health and mobility has not been kind. I don’t publise the mobility issues I have on a daily basis but there are times, more than I’d like where crutches and wheelchairs are used. I hate it. I not going to lie, I really really hate it. The effect it has on my life and my children’s life is horrid. There are times it takes over and stops us doing things.
I was having a reasonably good day and although the air was nippy the sun was out. After being couped up for far too long I needed to get out. Off to the local canal for a short walk. It really was a short walk but it was very much needed. I may have been in quite a bit of discomfort for a few days after and extremely tired as a consequence but for those brief 15 minutes I felt alive.
Sometimes the resultant pain is worth those brief periods of happiness.
What are you loving this month?
