I don’t know about you but life just seems to be all go go go. I’m a busy working mother with 2 kids. I have a couple of businesses which take up a lot of my time. But every now and then I need to take a step back, relax and think of me. Its times like this when I want to be pampered.
An easy way of relaxing for me is having manicures. Pretty nails make me smile. Without polish my nails look awful because of too many years of taking nasty medications that have horrid side effects. Too many years of having chronic illnesses that ruin my body thus affecting my hair and nails. They’re always the first parts of your body to show signs of being unwell. I am useless at applying nail varnish and getting it to stay put. I can chip it within hours of applying it even when using top and base costs.
However, a professional manicure can last a good 10 days. I’ve purchased the exact same products and used them st home and they only last a couple of hours. Why this happens in beyond me!
But with professional manicures not only does the polish stay put but I get the chance to just sit and relax. No children calling my name, no getting up and doing something mid way through. Just a good 40 minutes sat relaxing. As I mother I struggle to get time on my own to just sit and relax. Now my children are getting older I no longer get that me time after they have gone to bed. More often I am literally following them upstairs to bed now a days and as soon as my head hits the pillow I am usually falling straight asleep.
What do you do to pamper yourself and give yourself a little me time? Do you find this hard to do due to lack of time or you just feel guilty for doing so?
I find I work so much that I don’t get a lot of downtime but I do love taking a nice lush filled bath, candles burning and a magazine in my hand. Your nails look nice, I tend to opt for gel as they last 4-6 weeks! x
I think mothers are guilty of not pampering themselves as much as we should, because we deserve it! It’s lovely that you’ve had the chance to do this … For me, pampering would be having a lovely-nice-long bath without my daughter knocking on the door for attention. x
When it comes to relaxing I take time out and read a book or watch something on netflix.
I would love to have the time for a manicure (and a hair cut) – may have to sneak out on hubby’s day off
I love a manicure – there’s nothing better than looking down at your nails and seeing them all painted and lovely. I find the same as you with a professional manicure – it last so much longer, even though I use a base coat and a top coat at home. I’d love to know what the secret is!
I think the only day I managed a manicure was when I got married! I just dont seem to get round to even painting them generally – yours look so pretty!
Can’t remember the last time I had a manicure 🙁 Your nails look so pretty.
I think you’re right that sometimes you almost need to be forced to relax (or be pampered). I’d love an aromatherapy massage but I can’t remember the last time I had one!
I love having massages and just relaxing. Great post.
I love me some pampering…when I’m able my favorite thing is to get a blowout and have my hair done all pretty. They always do it better than I can. Manicures and pedicures are pretty close to a necessity in my book!
Everyone deserves a break now and again, especially a mother running to businesses! It’s strange how getting your nails done a salon is nothing like at home, I’m glad you managed to pamper yourself, even if it’s just that 40 minutes on your own 🙂 xxx
Sorry to hear that, do you mind me asking how long you have been ill for? I think a good manicure is a good way to put a smile on your face.
It would definitely be nice to get manicures more often. I paint my nails every now and then but it’s not the same.
I am a working single mum of four so have very little time to myself! I have never had a manicure – but would love one! Kaz x
It’s so important to have me time isn’t it. I love that colour you chose.
I also love having my nails done. With our busy lifestyles, we tend to run like headless chickens and never stop. Having a manicure is a great way of stopping and relaxing completely.
I absolutely love having a manicure, I find it incredibly relaxing and a good manicure does lead to the polish lasting for up to 2 weeks for me x
I love to be pampered and have my nails done! i agree just sitting and relaxing is a nice feeling and haven’t had them done in a few years! It’s something I’d like for mothers day! Angela xx
You’re so right, a manicure is a lovely way to relax and pamper yourself. I’ve actually been thinking lately that I’d love to do something like that as a treat. I also like getting my hair done cos I feel so nice coming out of the hairdressers.
Lovely!! I actually had a sneaky one last week as I found that I had a day off without Monkey and thought a pampering session was in order! Got my toes done as well although i can’t remember the last time I actually did that. Enjoy your next one xx
Oh I love a good pamper and ironically as I’m reading this I am currently at a salon having a complete hair makeover. I normally have a hairdresser to the house so this is a big pamper for me. I’d love to have nice nails but I work in an operating theatre so I can’t x
I have tried to make more time for me this year. Having three children 5 and under and working from home is not good for my stress levels! I love to read, apply face masks, I also like to paint my nails although It doesn’t last long. I also find going to local exercise classes when my OH is home on time to watch the kids is a great adrenaline boost x
I recently made a pledge to myself to start having fresh, painted nails as I definitely feel happier and more confident with nice nails. Yours look beautiful and like you say, a professional manicure does seem to last longer, I am useless at doing my own 🙂 X
From the sounds of it you really deserve a manicure every now and then.x
What a woman, and you find time to blog!
*tips hat in appreciation*
I rarely spend money on myself due to the guilt I feel afterwards as I know i could’ve (should’ve) probably used that money to get something the kids need or save it for a holiday or something. A haircut every 3 months is about as pampered as I get!
X
I love having painted nails, it just makes me happy whenever I catch sight of my hands. My main problem though is having enough time to do it when I’m not going to need to use for hands for anything. I try and do it before bed and then I wake up in the morning with indents from the sheets all over them! I definitely think a trip for a professional manicure is a lovely way to treat yourself!
I love a manicure and before I had my girls I was a regular. But now I just don’t find the time, I’m hoping this will change as they get older. Your nails look beautiful 🙂
so pretty I love having my nails done which is about once a year I really need to treat myself more
My mummy would love to take time out and get a professional manicure… Maybe be a lady who lunches too… Just for one day! Maybe for Mother’s Day!
I’m definitely overdue a manicure, lovely pic!
I do enjoy a manicure, but hand on heart I tend to ruin a manicure within minutes of leaving the salon. I think I’d opt for a massage out of preference.
I never have my nails done, something I wish I could afford!! Love that colour.
I’d kill for some professional pampering! A bath, The Good Wife and a decaf cappuccino is my idea of bliss when I’m at home xx
Loving the nails! I don’t get too much time to relax tbh, really need to make more time
I wish I had pretty nails mine look all stubby and worn.
I love having a manicure. I don’t do my nails enough at all but I definitely feel better when I have nice nails. Love that nail colour! x
Everyone deserves a little pampering, especially us hard-worked parents! Personally, I like having a meal out with the Mrs, which is exactly what I’m doing tomorrow night. Pamper my belly!
Oh my goodness – I HEAR YOU on the no-me-time-in-the-evening thing anymore … why does no one warn you of this when becoming a parent? no one tells you that within 12 years of welcoming your bundle of joy into the world, that you can kiss goodbye to your evenings, your choice of TV, your spot on the sofa etc etc!
Well done you for finding solace in having a manicure. I think I might join you!
I have two little kids too and it can be very hard to have any me time. Reading is the only indulgence I have managed to squeeze into my busy life. Manicure sounds like a brilliant idea and an affordable luxury to try.
This has definitely reminded me to take a little time for me, I can’t wear make up or nail varnish at work but have just finished for maternity leave so need to embrace it for a bit while u still have time 🙂
Its been a long time since I had enough spare time to do my nails. I do try to have me time but it usually is a nice soak in the bath x
It’s so important to carve out a little time for yourself. Having your nails done must be a lovely treat. Time off and of course you get to enjoy them afterwards too!
i love a good pamper!! i think the trick is to book it a month in advance and stick to it!! it always gives you a lift and as mummys we are always looking after everyone else x
I always love a good manicure! I need one re-done actually
I love a pamper! I treat myself each month to my acrylic nail infills and get my hair coloured and cut every couple of months. I’d love to be able to spend more on relaxation, like spa days or regular massages, but alas, I just can’t justify the spends.
I’m the same I rarely have time to myself to relax, paint my nails etc. I would love to have a little more time for me and wouldn’t feel guilty as I do loads for the kids daily.
Yes, I’d say we definitely all need some “me” time. I love a massage every so often – makes such a difference! Unfortunately I don’t have good enough nails for a manicure 🙂
