Make It Cosy This Christmas; Make It Hygge

Blog post

Some days are meant to be spent in the warmth and comfort of your home, especially cold snowy days.  Days that when you look out of your window you have lost your road.  Days like this, believe me there really is a road under there:

There are plenty of these type on during winter months, days when all you want to do is spend time with loved ones all wrapped up.  What’s not to love about sitting in the cosy comfort of your home waiting for Christmas to arrive?
First of all I like to relax with a nice cup of tea, PJs on and wrapped in a fluffy dressing gown with plenty of blankets on my feet to keep me warm. Wrapping up in a warm dressing gown can make all the difference to keeping warm, especially so if you feel the cold.  I just love this dressing gown from Damart.
I love how soft it feels.  I love how warm it makes me feel and I love the deep pockets I can put my hands in while I wait for the kettle to boil.  Once I’ve made my tea I can go back to the warmth of the fire and snuggle down and enjoy some relaxation.

Over the last 12 months or so, people have become a little obsessed with Hygge; which is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special.  To me it’s the sort of thing I have been doing since a child.  Creating cosy special times with family when it’s cold and snowy outside.  Sitting down in front of the fire, wrapped in blankets and dressing gowns and just relaxing together as a family.

There is just something so relaxing about sitting in front of the fire and spending time with loved ones, drinking hot tea and snuggling in close, even if it’s just a cat who loves the comfort and warmth of your dressing gown too.

What do you like to do on snowy winter days?
