9 Things Every Woman Should Own

23rd August 2019 by Candace Leave a Comment

[AD] Over the years I have tried to build a wardrobe where I love all the items and most importantly wear them! By streamlining my wardrobe I really have reduced the ‘what shall I wear today scenario which we all face at times. I’m lucky that I work from home and I tend to live in jeans and a t shirr, ok, I do have the odd PJ day but I don’t have to go to work wearing a ‘professional’ outfit like I spent many years doing.

Here are 9 classic staples that every woman needs in her closet all year round.

White Linen Shirt

You can own many basics but nothing beats a white linen shirt. With the right classic white shirt, it can take you to many work or social occasions.

Perfect Fitting Jeans

A good pair of denim jeans will never lead you astray. Find a pair that is flattering and comfortable and worth wearing regularly. I have a terrible time finding jeans and when I find a pair that I like I tend to buy more than one pair and often in a number of colours.

Jacket/Blazer

A jacket can be a great addition to any woman’s wardrobe. Perfect to team with your jeans or over a dress for a night out.

Black Dress

By ‘black dress’ I’m not meaning little black dress but a classic black dress that is suitable for a number of occasions that can be dressed up for a special night out but is also appropriate for less somber occasions.

Classic Winter Coat

I am a huge fan of long wool mix winter coats, I always have been. It goes back to when I left university and started on my professional career, sadly health got in the way and that came to an end but I still have a long winter coat which with a classic style can last 2 to 3 seasons. I also love a warm coat that can be pulled on and keep you warm for winter walks which were essential when we lived by the sea in Wales!

Jewellery

For me, it’s all about classic jewellery. You can wear the simplest of clothes, but you can look like a million dollars if you pick the right jewellery. All you need is a little planning. To get a stylish and elegant look, I like to pick classic pieces that I know will last many seasons. Although I don’t have much jewellery, what I do have I absolutely love and it all has great memories attached; the person who left me the piece, special birthdays, anniversaries and memories created whilst wearing certain pieces.

My favourite items are earrings and bracelets. I especially love this stunning class range of Pomegranate bracelets which would make a great statement with any outfit.

Handbags

One of the things I’ve always noticed about stylish women is not just their clothes but also the great handbags they have which always seem to pull an outfit together. I have an everyday bag (huge Cath Kidston fan) but also a lovely designer bag for special occasions that was a gift. It just feels special to take it out and use it.

Comfy Shoes

Shoes…..they have to be comfortable! Gone are the days when I can wear 3″ heels all day and night. Having arthritis has meant my shoes and boots and now less than 1″ in height but that doesn’t mean I have to compromise on style. There really is a great choice available.

The Perfect Lipstick

For me, it just has to be Charlotte Tilbury, Bitch Perfect!

Accessories are your best friends. Eye-catching accessories can also create a strong style statement. You can have a lot of clothes but let the accessories to their magic!

Personally I don’t usually wear overly fashionable clothes but much prefer to pick more classic pieces which can be worn more than one season. I also like to pick a few accessories to mix up my outfits and keep them fresh looking. Again, I tend to go for a few classic pieces and then add in a pop of colour usually with shoes.

What are the essential items in your wardrobe?
