Afternoon Tea Adventures; Castle Hotel, Conwy

11th August 2017 by Candace 2 Comments

This afternoon tea was taken back in March before I was ill for my birthday.  It seems such a long time ago now but this afternoon tea was rather delicious and I really would love to go back and have another tea here at the Castle Hotel in Conwy.

Firstly the tea, it was a lovely English breakfast tea which is my favourite.  The sandwiches were out of this world.  I had egg, roast beef and cheese.  The beef just melted in my mouth and the bread was so fresh and tasty.  The cheese which was accompanied by a lovely chutney was really tasty.  I am a huge fan of mature cheese and this cheese was certainly to my liking.

The fruit scone was served with jam and clotted cream.  There was also some grapes and being in Wales 2 pieces of toasted Bara brith. I love bara brith and I can honestly say this was the most tastiest one I have ever tried.

The desserts consisted of a lovely egg custard, a cheese cake topped with raspberry and chocolate mouse covered in chocolate with 2 chocolate twirls.  The quality was amazing.

The afternoon tea was very filling and I was surprised that the I could pick 3 sandwiches from a selection of 5 or 6 fillings and I was brought 2 fingers of each sandwich.  Although the person with me didn’t want an afternoon tea, they helped me eat it as there really was too much for one person. The Castle Hotel is certainly a venue I will be returning to for afternoon tea.  Whilst there for my birthday we also stayed the night and had dinner in the snug.  The Castle Hotel is a really delightful venue to eat and stay at whilst visiting this area of North Wales.
