I think it’s safe to say that I am a huge fan of Afternoon Tea. At the beginning of the year I set myself a goal to have Afternoon Tea every month. I think it is safe to say I have managed that apart from May when I was in hospital for the whole month. However, I did manage to sneak an extra afternoon tea in to make up for missing one in May. If I’m honest I’ve sneaked in quite a few more extra ones. Recently The 2017 Afternoon Tea awards were announced and these were the five winners:
- Best Traditional Afternoon Tea – Hotel Cafe Royal (London) – Visited October 2017
- Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea – Mirror Room at Rosewood London (London) – Visited September 2017
- Best Themed Afternoon Tea – Churchill Afternoon Tea at The Wellesley (London) – Visited December 2017
- Best Children’s Afternoon Tea – Millennium Hotel London Mayfair (London)
- Best Tea Service – Fortnum & Mason – Visited November 2017

I feel quite lucky to have visited two of the winners already and have a tea booked for later this month at another of the winners; Fortnum & Mason. The Edgbaston
In this years awards there were 48 venues listed and some of these like Claridges, The Savoy and Dorchester have been on my wish list for quite some time. Most of this list, apart from The Edgbaston which I have already visited are a day trip out but over the next couple of years I’d like to visit the remaining 44. This challenge should keep me very busy!
